Using ABI/Inform to Locate Magazine and Journal Articles about Companies and Industries
About ABI/Inform
ABI/Inform provides indexing and abstracts, from 1971 to the present, to articles from more than 1,300 leading business and management publications, including over 350 English- language titles from outside the U.S. and is updated weekly.ABI/Inform provides complete articles (page images) for more than 600 of the magazines and journals in the database. If the complete article is available, the citation displays the link "RETRIEVE FULL TEXT". When you click this link, your computer should open the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Searching for Company Information in ABI/Inform
Click on one of the pull down menus beside "Words in" and choose "Company Name". Type the company name in the empty box to the right. The database will return a list of articles about that company.If you are unsure of the spelling or exact company name, you can choose "Company Name" from the Browse menu located on the right hand side of the screen. You will then be able to view an alphabetical list of companies.
Searching for Industry Information in ABI/Inform
General Industry Information
Type in your industry name in the keyword or phrase box. The database will return a list of articles about that industry. For a more precise search, you can also search your industry name as a subject. If your subject search does not retrieve any results, you may want to try a word search or use the Browse Subject Heading feature located on the right side of the main search menu to determine the exact subject heading for your industry.Statistical Information on Industries
In addition to entering your indutry as a keyword or subject, choose words in the "Subject" and type in the subject heading "statistical data".
