Search Tips for Finding Books
- To look for books in your library, connect
to your library's online catalog, which is where you can conduct an author,
title, subject, or word search. Generally, it's a good idea to search your
own library's catalog before searching OhioLINK.
- When you find a book that suits your needs, note its call number,
location, and status. Generally, you need those three pieces
of information to locate an item in your library. Information about call
numbers and locations varies from institustion to institution. Check with
your own library for additional information.
- If a book in your library is missing or checked out, you can connect
to OhioLINK's Central Catalog
and request the item if it's available by following all on-screen directions.
(You can't request books that are currently available at your institution.)
In general, it takes three to five working days for an item to arrive at
your institution.
- If you get stuck or lost, take a few seconds to read the on-screen
directions as well as an item's individual record. This will solve many
problems you may encounter.
- Ask a librarian for help if you have trouble finding what you need.
