Micro 4 Steps

1. Read the EP entry on Nietzsche, with particular interest given to the sections B. b. i-iv (refer to 3/10/95 handout).

2. Note for each of the Sections under the heading "writings" which writings are included and the dates of those writings.

3*. Write one (1) and only one paragraph that speaks to each of the following points in the given order. Your paragraph should consist of six sentences, exactly--no more and no less.

  1. The four meditations were published under what title by FN?
  2. What is the subject matter or topics for each of the four meditations?
  3. According to the EP entry, what general theme binds together the four meditations?
  4. According to your reading of the EP entry, what could be a general theme (or some general themes) that bind together the four meditations under the published text title? In other words, what lines (threads) can you detect that connect between each of the four meditations?
  5. Consider the second meditation first. Given your current reading of FN, identify any "ideas" or themes that, according to you, are given other expression in later works by FN?
  6. Consider meditations one, three, and four. Given your current reading of FN, identify any "ideas" or themes that, according to you, are given other expression in later works by FN.
4. Bring two copies of your paragraph to class.

Micro 4: Follow-Up 2--Computer Classroom Exercise

1. Type your name and today's date.

2. Type either

  1. the compound sentence
OR
  1. the complex sentence sentence
identified in A. 2 b and c on the previous sheet.

3. REWRITE the sentences retyped above so that you write a series of simple sentences.

4. Now, write a simple or compound sentence that seems to follow from the sentences rewritten in item 3 above.

5. Print one copy of the responses to items 1-4. ALT-P
