Professor Gayle Ormiston
1. List three (3) journal articles about empiricism (in the 17th and 18th centuries) and Francis Bacon's contribution to empiricism (in alphabetical order). Cite the author of the article (book chapter), the title of the article, the journal (or book) where the article appears in print, inclusive pages, AND the reference source that led you to the article(s).
2. Write an abstract for at least one of the articles. Be sure your abstract reflects what you take to be the salient features of the article as it pertains to empiricism and Bacon. Abstracts should be written in complete sentences!
3. Check the library holdings (KentLINK/OhioLINK): if the article is published in a journal, does the Kent State library have a copy of the particular issue in which the article appears? if the article is a book chapter or included in an anthology, is the book in the library? If not, does the library own a copy or is the book checked out? If the library owns the book but it is checked out, by what means can any patron secure the book? If the library does not own the book or the journal issues in question, by what means can any patron secure a copy? Detail the procedures.
