Micro Writing Assignment 4:
An Exercise in Rewriting a Paper to Address Critical Commentary

Professor Deborah Smith

You should now have the first draft of Macro 2 returned to you with my comments. Re-read your paper and my comments thereon carefully. Come talk with me if you are having any difficulty understanding any of my comments.

Now, in no more than a paragraph or two one page maximum) and following the style guidelines set out for this class, explain what you take to be my central philosophical criticism of your paper. If I raised more than one worry, focus just on one, the one you take to be the biggest worry. This will involve (i) restating the point or argument that you had presented in your paper and to which I objected, (ii) briefly outlining what you need to do in order to answer or otherwise address my worry. You needn't rewrite that part of your paper here, merely outline what you will do in rewriting this part of your paper.)

After reading your micro, a reader who has not been sitting in on our class should have a good idea of what you had written, why it was problematic, and what can be done by way of addressing the problem.

Due Friday, October 24th (or the class period after which you receive your draft along with my comments).
